Can I buy a ticket for an infant through Avianca.com?

Yes you can, with the exception of the United States, Colombia, Spain, Peru and Ecuador sites. To purchase tickets for infants under the age of two years old in these countries please either call our Call Center, or if you require more information about how to contact us click here.

What payment methods does Avianca.com accept?

Avianca.com accepts credit and debit cards, depending on the country option selected.

How can I contact you?

At the bottom of the page you will find the "Contact Us" link. If you click on this link then you will find all the different ways you can contact us. Please select your preferred way.


What name will appear on the purchase receipt?

The purchase receipt will be issued in the name of the person who is traveling. It is not possible to send this receipt to the card holder as the system only generates receipts with the name of the Traveler.


What must I do to obtain baggage information about the programmed flight?

In the top part of the page you will find the option TRAVEL WITH US, please click on this option and then find the title “Before Flying” and the link for Baggages, where you will find all the  necessary information.


Can I find information about and flight arrivals and departures online?

Yes, please consult the FLIGHT STATUS option on the home page.


Can I cancel a purchase made through Avianca.com?

Yes, to cancel an Online purchase the cardholder must call our Call Center and an advisor will verify the information. Besides the other information you will be asked for, you must also indicate the telephone number of the city where you are. Please take into account that cancellations are subject to the conditions and restrictions of the tariff selected at the time of purchase.


Can I make changes in my ticket through Avianca.com?

No, to make a change you must get in contact with our Call Center and an assessor will verify the information and make a change if and when the selected rate permits.


Where can I find information about the AviancaPlus Program?

To find out information about the Frequent Traveler Program, please consult the FREQUENT TRAVELER option menu at the top of Avianca.com or go to the ONLINE SUPPORT Chat in  the link Register for the program on the site home page.


What can I do to check that my purchase has been made?

Verify the email sent by Avianca where the ticket number appears. Also you can verify the number in the option Reservation Status (located on the home page).


Can I request refunds for tickets bought on Avianca.com?

Yes, contact our Call Center and please keep in mind the tariff restrictions.


If I pay with a company card what name appears on the receipt?

The purchase receipt is issued in the name of the registered Traveler. It is not possible to issue the receipt in the company name.


Why is buying on Avianca.com secure?

Avianca.com uses the highest level of consumer protection in the industry, comparable with the systems employed by banks in their transactions.

During the purchase process, the information travels encrypted at 128 bits to protect against interpretation by third parties.

Additionally, the company Verisign, renowned internationally for validating security in the majority of the world's banking sites, has certified and validated  the security of Avianca.com.


Can I select my seat when purchasing through Avianca.com?


Yes. From March 1, 2010 all our travelers are able to pre-assign their seats on all flights and routes offered directly by Avianca.

When you make your reservation or purchase simply select the seat you want. Seats cannot belong to Familia Promo Classes (G and K) or discount classes (U and E). The pre-assigned seating service is available in Avianca.com, our Call Center,  Avianca sales offices, Viajes Éxito and at your favorite travel Agency. ¿Puedo realizar Check In a través de Avianca.com?


Yes, you can use our Web Check In service. Once your e-Ticket has been generated you can go to Avianca.com and obtain your boarding pass 24 hours before your flight. This service is available for:

  • Reservations of up to nine Travelers.
  • Tickets bought through any channel.
  • International flights departing from Colombia*.
  • Travelers with or without luggage (a new exclusive line for registering your baggage in the airport is also available).


*Initially applies for travel to Quito, Guayaquil and Lima. The service will soon be extended to cover other cities.


How do I validate my Credit Card data?

To validate the Credit card information the card holder must contact our Call Center. Due to security measures surrounding client information, it is not possible to validate information through our “ONLINE SUPPORT” Chat service.


What should I take into account when entering customs?

Please have all the documents required by the authorities in order when leaving Colombia, or when entering your destination country. Please remember that police, customs and other airport organizations at your destination and/or origin, can open and check your baggage (even if they have been wrapped in plastic), without requiring the presence of the traveler.

GENERAL INFORMATION

I am Colombian, and I was charged the Tourist Tax. How can I request a reimbursement?

In accordance with the 1782 Decree of 2007, all foreign Travelers who enter the Colombian territory via air with Colombia as their final destination, are charged a Tourism Tax. If you are Colombian and you were charged this tax, (JS will appear on your ticket), please request your reimbursement in any Avianca sales office  by presenting your Colombian ID card and your ticket.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS REGARDING THE AVIANCAPLUS

I forgot my AviancaPlus card when I traveled. What can I do to have my miles accrued?

Your AviancaPlus miles will be accrued to your account if you give your frequent flyer number when you make your reservation or when you purchase your ticket. However, if you forget to give your AviancaPlus number in those cases and you do not have your card with you when you travel, present your Colombian Citizen Card and give your frequent flyer number when you check in at the airport. 

What should I do if I lose my AviancaPlus card?

If you lose your card, you should file a legal report so stating with the competent authority in your country of residence. Immediately thereafter, call the Avianca Call Center in Colombia or abroad to report the loss and then send a letter requesting a replacement card along with a copy of the legal report. 

If I do not have the number of miles required to redeem a benefit ticket, can I buy the miles that I need?

Members who wish to redeem their miles on flights with Avianca or with any of the associated airlines in our AviancaPlus program (Delta, Air France, Taca y Mexicana) who do so not have the total number of miles available which are required to obtain the benefit ticket, may purchase miles provided that they have the minimum mileage required on each of the routes.

For Avianca destinations between Colombia and Quito, Guayaquil, Panama City, Caracas, Valencia, Aruba, and Curacao, members must have minimum 80% of the miles required available in their frequent flyer account.

For the other Avianca destinations, members must have minimum 60% of the miles required available in their frequent flyer account.

To purchase additional miles, call the Avianca Call Center in Colombia or abroad. 


May I change the dates, names or routes on my benefit tickets without having to pay extra?


A date change on any route made 48 hours before flight departure costs USD 50 for AviancaPlus Básico members and of USD 35 for AviancaPlus Oro and AviancaPlus Platino members.

There is no cost for route changes made 48 hours before flight departure for AviancaPlus Platino Ejecutivo members.
 

I received my AviancaPlus card but my name is wrong. What should I do?

When you receive your AviancaPlus frequent flyer card, if anything is incorrect, you must send a letter requesting that the data be corrected, along with a copy of your identification document. With this information, AviancaPlus will issue a new card that will be sent to your mailing address. 

Do my AviancaPlus miles expire?

Every time AviancaPlus frequent flyers travel with Avianca-Sam or transfer associated company miles to their accounts, AviancaPlus automatically renews the total balance of miles available for an additional three years. 

I forgot my security PIN. What should I do?

Go to Avianca.com/registro/olvidopassword.htm Then, type in your frequent flyer number and your e-mail address. AviancaPlus will immediately send a message to your personal e-mail address informing your security PIN.

You may also contact the Avianca Call Center in Colombia or abroad and speak to an AviancaPlus representative giving an effective e-mail address.

What is Avianca Tours?

It is the brand name of the Avianca offer for tourist plans created in Colombia, aimed at giving its clients the best, most complete alternatives for their pleasure trips.

  • Total assistance, food and lodging, according to the selected plan.

However, there are special plans with other conditions.

In addition, Avianca Tours plans have recommended activities based on the tourist, historical, cultural, and commercial offer of each destination, appropriate to every traveler’s needs. These activities may be bought along with the basic plan.

May I redeem the miles that I have accrued as member of the AviancaPlus program for Avianca Tours travel plans?

Yes, at any of our direct sales points in Colombia, you may redeem your accrued miles for Avianca Tours plans, but only to destinations abroad.

May I buy a Avianca Tours plan directly from a Call Center?

If you are a direct customer located in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali or Barranquilla, you may buy Avianca Tours plans through the Tele-ticket Delivery service and request the physical delivery of your multi-ticket Avianca Tours, making your full payment upon receipt. For the rest of Colombia, you may make your reservation through a Call Center and pay for the plan at an Avianca direct sales point.

How may I obtain more information on the hotels included in Avianca Tours plans?

The easiest thing to do is visit www.avianca.com, go to the Avianca Tours plan descriptions, see the hotels and then go to the respective web page for each hotel. You may also peruse our brochures or, if you wish, call our Call Center representatives.

May I buy a Avianca Tours plan for lodging only?

No, our plans always include the airline ticket.

What documents are required when traveling with minors?

The birth certificates of minors (up to 12 years old) must be presented when checking in at the airport. In addition, for trips abroad, minors (up to 12 years old) traveling with only one parent or without their parents must present an authorization duly authenticated at a Notary Public Office signed by the other parent or by both parents, respectively.

May I buy Avianca Tours plans with a departure outside of Colombia?

No, currently these plans are solely for passengers who depart from Colombia.

May I extend my stay at my destination, without using additional hotel nights?

Yes, that is called a ticket extension. The maximum stay that Avianca Tours plans allow is 30 days, including the number of days in the basic plan. Ticket extension may have an additional cost according to the destination.
