Transportation of sporting equipment without additional cost

It is important that you review the terms and conditions of the free allowed baggage policy. If your sports equipment meets the weight, piece and dimension free baggage conditions on your flight route, there is no additional charge.

An extra charge is generated for additional baggage​ when the pieces that comprise it exceed the limits indicated for this class of elements (oversize, overweight or number of pieces).


Characteristics of baggage

Elements that may be transported at no additional cost

The following equipment may be transported in the hold without paying additional charges as long as they comply with the free baggage allowance corresponding to your trip, with a maximum dimension of 158 lineal cm (62 inches). They must be duly packed and protected for their transportation.


  • Bowling equipment

    The maximum allowed weight is 23 kilograms (50 pounds)​.

  • Tennis Rackets

    The maximum allowed weight is 23 kilograms (50 pounds).

  • Fishing Equipment

    UA pair of boots, a net and two fishing canes.

  • Archery Equipment

    An arch and arrows transported in an adequate container that protects the article.

Transportation with additional cost of sporting equipment​


The following equipment has an additional charge because of its characteristics.


Elements of kitesurfing equipment

  • A wakeboard of maximum 366 centimeters (12 feet), kite, guiding rod and harness and weighing less than 32 kilograms (70 pounds).

Surf boards

 

 

  • You may check the first bag (paying the respective charge) as part of your baggage.​

  • ​​You may take a maximum of three surfboards in the same bag. Said bag may not exceed the maximum weight of 32 kilograms (70 pounds). The length must not exceed 3.7 meters (12 feet) long.

Windsurf equipment

 
  • A board of maximum 366 centimeters (12 feet) long, weighing less than 32 kilograms (70 pounds), a mast and a boom.

Skiing Equipment

 
  • One pair of skis or a snowboard, two poles, boots and shoes.

Golf Equipment

 
  • A golf bag with a maximum of 14 clubs, duly packed and secured, 12 balls, a pair of golf shoes. The dimensions must be a maximum of 230 lineal centimeters (height+length+width).

Bicycles

 
  • We only accept non-motorized bicycles with a single seat. The handlebar must be folded and the pedals loose.

Scuba equipment

 
  • An air regulator, an empty tank, two rubber and/or plastic fins, a conventional harpoon, a mask, a snorkel, a rubber suit, a weight belt and high-intensity submarine lamps.*

Delta Wing

 
  • A wing, a harness and the metallic structure that holds the wing. A maximum of 32 kilograms (70 pounds) and 5 meters in length is allowed for each bag**.



*High intensity submarine lamps are only accepted if the component that generates heat in the battery is packed separately.
All batteries transported separately must be protected against short circuits.

**Transportation of this type of equipment may only be done in national flights within Colombia operated with the AV code (Avianca).

​Conditions for your baggage to be transported

  • Sporting equipment and its packaging must be in optimal conditions and endure manipulation by our personnel. If any of the elements is damaged it may not be transported.
  • If you register your equipment as additional baggage, a charge per extra piece applies and it will be registered as conditional baggage. That is, subject to space availability and market with the standby bag tag.
  • Sporting equipment measuring for which the sum of its three dimensions exceeds 230 centimeters (90 inches) and/or weighs more than 45 kilograms (100 pounds) must be transported by our cargo service and its haulage is subject to current policies. Except for surf, kitesurf and windsurf equipment that may be transported as checked baggage if their weight does not exceed 32 kg (70 pounds) and 3.7 meters (12 feet) in length.

Conditions for transportation of surf, kitesurf and windsurf equipment on flights with regional airlines.

  • Each traveler may transport, a maximum of one board measuring less than 2 meters.

  • If the plane is an Embraer 190​,a table measuring a maximum of 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) is allowed.

  • If the plan on which you are flying is an ATR​, only one board per bag is allowed.

  • On flights operated by Cessna Caravan planes, the board must be transported outside its bag.
