In US, Colombia is in style
For a second time, Avianca and ProColombia join efforts to showcase Colombia as a tourism destination in the United States.
Discounted rates start this Wednesday, February 17th, and last until Sunday, February 28th. Travelers can use their tickets and vacation packages until November 30th, 2016.
BOGOTA, FEBRUARY 17th, 2016. In response to the demand for tourists visiting Colombia, Avianca and ProColombia join efforts for a second time through a promotional campaign that includes special air fare and vacation packages, so that more travelers can experience the cultural and gastronomic wealth of the country.
Within the “Colombia is magic realism” campaign, promoted by the Colombian government and Avianca, the airline is offering special rates and plans for tourists to travel and enjoy 25 destinations in Colombia. The promotion, whose sales started on Wednesday, February 17th, and extend until Sunday, February 28th, includes rates from $249 per person, -tax included- for travel originating in the United States with a destination in Colombia, available through November 30th, 2016*.

According to Maria Claudia Lacouture, “Offering competitive and promotional rates helps attract a larger number of tourists and constitutes one of the key factors for the country’s positioning as an international tourism destination. More and more world travelers are joining in to enjoy the experiences that Colombia has to offer. In 2015, as a result of the international campaign “Colombia is magic realism”, almost 4.5 million travelers visited the country, an increment of 6% compared to 2014, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and Migration Colombia”.
Results from the first promotion include, 28% of tourists coming from points in North America, 23% from Central America and the Caribbean, 18% from Ecuador and Peru, 13% from the Southern Cone, 12% from Brazil and 6% from Europe. Among the preferred destinations in Colombia are: Bogota (29%), Cali (19%), Medellin (16%), Cartagena (13%), the Coffee Growing Region (10%), San Andres (5%) and other points of the country (8%).
One of the favorite destinations for North American travelers is Cartagena, the city that holds all its secrets within its city walls and balconies, in its constructions with narrow stone streets. It also has a great number of museums, monuments and several sites to suit the preferences of all travelers, who may also enjoy the sun, the beach, the wind and the sea. Travelers from the US also visit Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Santa Marta and the Coffee Growing Region.
