By order of the TSA on flights from Colombia to the United States: carry-on baggage inspection will intensify as of July 19

Pursuant to the provisions of the Department of Security of the United States, travelers coming from Colombia to that country may take electronic equipment in their carry-on baggage, as long as they undergo regulatory inspections.

Bogota, July 18, 2017. According to security regulations issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the United States to further control possible acts of unlawful interference and/or terrorism, the TSA has mandated more thorough and frequent inspections of carry-on baggage at waiting rooms and boarding gates.

This provision will enter into force as of 00 hours on Wednesday, July 19, and includes an exhaustive inspection of electronic equipment at waiting rooms and boarding gates.

Following the security regulations that govern aviation activity, this normativity is mandatory. To this effect, Avianca advises passengers to show up with due anticipation at the airport in order to facilitate the process. It should be noted, that a passenger that does not allow his or her electronic equipment to be inspect may not take them onboard their flight.

These additional measures apply to flights to the United States from different airports around the world.
