As of August 26, an original copy of the birth certificate will be required for children between 0 and 7 years of age

April 23, 2018. As of August 26, persons travelling via air with a minor between the ages of 0 and 7 are required to show an original copy of the birth certificate at airports in Colombia; otherwise, the minor will not be able to travel.

After the National Registry of Civil Status strengthened identification measures for Colombian nationals, among them minors, the Civil Aeronautics modified the Colombian Aeronautical Regulations to meet the requirements of the ultimate authority in this matter. Therefore, Avianca will require this document to parents or adults travelling with minors between the ages of 0 and 7.

If minors are travelling to international destinations, they must also show their passport. An original copy of the document is one issued by registration authorities ( National Registry of Civil Status, notarial offices and Colombian consulates abroad) and has no expiration date.
