Learn about the program that allows you to quickly pass through security checks at airports in the United States and Puerto Rico.
The program was started in October 2011 and allows the TSA to expedite the security checkpoint process for low-risk travelers. Obtain a known traveler number on your boarding pass and avoid delays at airport lines.
Benefits and requirements
TSA reported that the PreCheck wait time for 98% of travelers was less than 5 minutes in December 2016. This is significantly faster than going through standard security!

Objects you can carry without setbacks
Now you can travel with the following items without placing them on the scanners when you go through security checkpoints.
Belts and shoes
*Liquids bottled in containers of maximum 3 ounces (100 milliliters) and stored in a plastic bag. Take up to 33 ounces (1 liter).
You can apply to the benefit as a US citizen, legal permanent resident or foreigner. You must have previously registered with one of the trusted traveler programs.
Apply with the Transportation Security Administration.
Complete the online form and schedule
an appointment at one of the
380 registration centers.
During a 10 minute in-person appointment,
your information will be verified and
your prints will be registered.

For parents and guardians with children ages 12 and under, your children are eligible to use the TSA PreCheck security lanes with you. Children older than the age of 12 will need their own membership.
