This dish, created by the iconic restaurant La Scala in Beverly Hills, was a favorite of Marilyn Monroe, Debbie Reynolds and Warren Beatty. Try throwing one together and discover why it’s so famous:

    Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  •  2 1⁄2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar 
  • 1 teaspoon mustard Salt and pepper 
  • 1 medium head of lettuce 
  • 1 romaine lettuce
  •  ¼ pound salami 
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  •  1 can chickpeas 
  • Diced tomato
  •  Basil leaves

    Directions:

  1. Make the vinaigrette by mixing the oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Wash the regular and romaine lettuce and dice it finely. 
  3. In a bowl, mix the lettuces, salami, cheese and chickpeas. Toss well. 
  4. Bathe in vinaigrette.
  5. Finish with a tomato and basil garnish. 
  6. Enjoy!
