About Our Operations

On November 28th, Airbus informed us that a significant portion of A320-family aircraft worldwide — including a large part of our fleet — requires an urgent software update. This means that these aircraft must remain grounded at their maintenance bases while the necessary work is carried out.

This directive affects over 70% of our aircraft. While we’ve already started implementing the required updates, we know this will inevitably cause significant changes to our operations over the next 10 days.

To minimize the impact, we have temporarily closed ticket sales for flights through December 8 (inclusive). This allows us to reassign passengers to available flights and provide alternatives to those with travel plans during this period.

If your flight is affected, you will be contacted directly by our team with details about the changes and the available options, such as rebooking or rescheduling. We encourage you to check your flight status regularly through our official channels.

Your safety and that of our team is our top priority.
That’s why we are working to complete the required actions as quickly as possible so we can resume operations and minimize service disruptions.

On November 28th, Airbus issued a directive stating that a significant portion of the global A320 fleet requires an urgent software update. This update affects the majority of Avianca’s aircraft. As a result, the affected aircraft must remain grounded at their maintenance bases until the work is completed.

  1. We are rebooking passengers on the closest available options with Avianca or partner airlines with which Avianca has a commercial agreement.
  2. If none of the available options work for your travel plans, you may:
    a. Reschedule your flight with no change fee or fare difference, within the next 180 days.
    b. Request a full refund.
  • We immediately began working on the software updates required by Airbus.

  • We’ve temporarily closed ticket sales through December 3 to help reduce the impact and prioritize the rebooking of affected passengers.

If your flight is scheduled within this period, we will contact you directly. Please rest assured that we are doing everything possible to offer you the best available options to adjust your plans.

It depends on your travel dates. Sales are open for travel starting December 4, 2025. For earlier dates, ticket sales are temporarily closed.
