Thanks to the alliance between Avianca and Fundación Poderosas:

More than 1,200 people have been trained on gender equity and women's human rights

  • Through the contributions of the Avianca Miles Bank, the airline facilitates the transportation of professionals to remote regions for training and to promote the integral development of women and girls in vulnerable areas of the country.
  • Under the brand concept “you choose your destination”, in 2025, Avianca continues to work on being a professional development platform for women, with 40% female participation in the company and more than 190 women in leadership roles.

Bogota, March 7, 2025. As part of the commemoration of International Women's Day, thanks to the partnership between Avianca and Fundación Poderosas, more than 1,200 people from vulnerable communities in Bogota, Cartagena, Antioquia, Magdalena and Caquetá, have received training on gender equality and women's human rights between 2024 and 2025.

Avianca, through the Miles Bank, facilitates the transportation of professionals to these regions, allowing them to train the populations, disseminate powerful messages for informed decision making, as well as promote key values and safe environments for the development of women and girls.

"The alliance with Fundación Poderosas ratifies that our airplanes are elements that transform realities. At Avianca we are proud to be able to contribute to the development of women and girls in Colombia, providing access to learning and creating real opportunities for those who need it most," said Felipe Andrés Gómez Vivas, Avianca's Vice President of Public Affairs and Sustainability.

"It is one day a year, the day of the year, in which women remember and honor the struggles of so many other women before us so that today we have the rights we have, and it is the day of the year in which we come together to continue fighting for the many other women who are here and for those who will be here. That is why it is so important that young women from communities across the country can experience what this gathering is like in the capital and thus, measure the transformative power of the collective and replicate it, in their terms and leadership, in their community. Avianca understands this power and allows us, with the Mileage Bank, to connect the periphery with the center and the center with the periphery", commented Mariana Sanz de Santamaría Franco, director of Fundación Poderosas.

Women who fly high in Avianca:

In addition to its work with social partners such as Fundación Poderosas, Avianca continues to work on being a platform for its employees to choose their destination and develop professionally. In this regard, women at Avianca play a fundamental role in different areas of the company with 40% participation. For example, more than 190 women occupy leadership roles; more than 140 are pilots and more than 90 are maintenance technicians.
